Sometimes it can be hard for people who are used to long, drawn out design projects to imagine how we could ever accomplish everything you need in one day.
So let me give you more detail on how this works.
The Minimalist with Heart Design Process
I designed this process with a minimalism ethos at its heart. Although I have simplified this process greatly, I haven’t taken out the important bits. I’ve merely found a way to condense it into a shorter, much less overwhelming process.
You may be wondering why I’ve done this. (or probably how I have done this! More on that to come…)
When I started implementing the Minimalist with Heart process to other areas of my life - my home for example, I was always left feeling so much lighter, happier and clear.
I’ve seen how lengthy projects can lead to decision fatigue. How more options are not necessarily better. How momentum can be lost after several weeks or even months of perfecting a design.
In the same way we remove clutter from a space, removing clutter from any process, will open up room for clarity.
Meaning decisions get easier. Overwhelm disappears. And project timelines are significantly reduced.
I wanted to do this for my clients and our design projects.
What if the working process could embody minimalism as well?
What if we could do more in less time?
What if we could cut right to the heart of the project?
Enter - The Minimalist With Heart approach.
I’ve trimmed back all the excess that you often find in other projects…
No more losing your place in crazy long email chains.
No more frustration when you receive a concept that needs a tonne of revisions.
No more anxious waits to see progress!
What’s left is a streamlined system, with none of the fluff But all of the heart.
And don’t worry - even though it sounds like this is a bare-bones approach, it doesn’t mean you are getting a bare-bones design. I have been able to perfect this process so you still get a bespoke design, exactly as you’ve been dreaming of.
Now, although the majority of the work is done in one day - we do some prep work beforehand. This has also been designed to not be onerous. After five years doing this work, I’ve been able to streamline the questions to ask clients. I know exactly what to ask to get to the heart of what you are envisioning.
How have I been able to do this?
• I’ve perfected the questions to ask clients that draw out the exact information I need to understand what they are seeing in their head •
• I’ve identified the patterns that the majority of clients present in their design ideas → meaning I can quickly deduce what people mean when they say things like “I want a design approach that is modern but with whimsy” •
• I’ve studied this stuff - from the experts. I studied in Paris (the epitome of refined design) •
• I specialise in a particular style of design: minimalist, clean, refined. Meaning that I won’t take on projects that do not fit this brief •
• I’ve seen all the common objections and reasons for decision paralysis - and know how to pre-empt them •
• I am able to get so clear and honed in on the design my client is envisioning, that I don’t need to present you with 14 different options, or go through endless rounds of revisions • Usually what I present to clients the first time is so close to what they wanted, revisions are unnecessary - or at least very limited
Ready to book and get your design project done in a day?
So you fully understand what this process would involve, here’s how it works, step-by-step:
Book a free 60-minute discovery call where I find out even more about your design needs. On this call we will agree to the scope of what we will complete in our day together.
I ask you to complete some ‘homework’ (don’t worry, it’s the fun kind!)
We schedule your ‘designer for a day’ one day intensive where you and your project will have my undivided attention for a full 7 hours. During that day we will communicate via the messenger platform of your choice (something instant so we can avoid that email inbox!). I usually recommend Facebook chat.
By the end of the day I send over your completed design with detailed instructions for our next steps.
If you are:
in need of a logo, Squarespace website, branding or wedding suite designed
drawn to simple, meaningful designs
dreading the thought of a 4,6,8 week project
Relieved at the idea of putting your project in the hands of a design expert
Then my ‘designer for a day’ service s for you!

FAQs
Is this really one day? How do I know you will get my project completed?
Yes! We will set up a plan on our discovery call (which happens prior to the actual design day so we both have time to prepare) so we are clear on what can be achieved during the day. When you book a design day with me, you are booking my time and undivided attention. So, although I will endeavour to fully complete the agreed project, my ability to do this is dependent on …. Of course this also depends on you being available throughout the day to reply to my requests for feedback and answer questions I may have.
If I don’t think we can get everything you need done in a day, I will come up with a multi-day plan that we can execute. We will discuss all of this on our strategy call and everything will be agreed upon before our ‘design day’ together.
I need my branding and my new website done. Can you do this in one day?
Awesome, it’s such a great idea to get both of these done at the same time, however, to give each task the time and attention it deserves, you will need to schedule a day for each. In our strategy call, we talk through everything you have on your list and I will tell you what is reasonable for us to accomplish in one day. Some of my clients do book 2 or even 3 days with me. This is an amazingly productive way to knock out one or even two big projects like branding and a website, start to finish.
What do you need from me?
I’ll need you to do some homework upfront (in the form of a questionnaire and inspiration board) so that we are both heading in the same design direction. Don’t worry, it will be fun and will help you become much clearer on your exact vision. Please note, that in order for me to be fully prepared and do my best work for you, this pre-work will need to be completed and submitted to me at least X days in advance of our scheduled day. If this is not completed the day will either need to be cancelled
What if I have to cancel my day?
Once our day is booked, I am not actively looking to fill that day with other work, nor is it possible to fill that time on short notice - for that reason, once your day is booked, there are no refunds, however I realise that things do come up and you may not want to cancel but to reschedule to a more suitable day. In that case I allow clients to rebook their day once, with 48 hours notice and within a 60 day period. If you are not able to make the rescheduled day, the time with me will be forfeited and there will be no refunds.
What if I have to reschedule my day?
If you need to reschedule you must do so with 48 hours notice. The rescheduled day must be within a 60 day period of the originally booked day.
What if I want to add more to my project?
That’s totally fine. We can have another call to discuss your needs and schedule another day to get everything done and dusted.
What happens on the day? Do I need to be on a call with you all day?
You and your project have my undivided attention for a full 7 hours. You don’t need to be on a call with me all day but you do need to be available for me to chat with in real time (usually via Facebook chat) throughout the day. I will likely have a few questions and progress pics that I will need your feedback on. While this is a collaborative process, it is NOT an in-person or zoom intensive.
